While belated, I would like to wish subscribers and supporters of this blog a happy and healthy 2011!!

I would also like to thank those correspondents who, though keen eyes and the requisite skepticism, aided in the slaying of a number of notable FrankenDragons and their pimps that surfaced in 2010. My thanks also to those who provided information that increased our body of knowledge about the Constellation family and old friends who offered corrections and insights in respect to posts that appeared over the year.  A special thanks, too, to collectors who shared photographs of their prides and joy, inflaming new collecting aspirations in others and providing more than the odd eyegasm in the process.

This blog is now moving into its sixth year, and while there have been some recurring themes we have managed, together, to maintain its freshness with new information and on occasions new discoveries. For it to remain relevant and interesting, your contributions, tip-offs and support are vital, as are your suggestions of topics that need further research or explanation. So please, view this site not as a one man show, but a Community of Passion that offers a central repository for all things vintage Constellation and a few more things besides.

I wish you a very successful collecting year in 2011, and may your passion for collecting vintage watches deliver you much joy, comradeship and unexpected suprises!

Happy New Year Desmond. I don't know if its been mentioned before (although I am sure it has) but one of the real pleasures I get is reading something that is extremely well written. You have a knack of choosing the right word for the right situation, and its is a delight to read your essays. I check the website every day or so, always hoping for something to learn. Today I re-read your essays on Constellation movements and they were better the second and third time - which just shows how little I can remember and how little we pick up the first time. Much thanks for answering all my questions and all the best for the coming 365 days.

    Kind regards,

    Pat

  3. Hi Desmond, thought this would be a good opportunity to say thanks for all your writings over the last few years. I have always enjoyed reading your blog, and have learnt a great deal from it about vintage Constellations and Omegas more generally. It's a really great resource. Thanks again, grumio.

are there any recurring serial numbers on constellations that fakes have used?

  6. Yes, have a look at the essay of fake Connies - SS and gold - as the numbers are mentioned there.

Cases 14900, 167.005 and 168.005 have also been faked.

    Cheers

    Desmond
